flowers malas -amidst the hot musty Kolkatan summer - flower malas from Lake market, blossomed their way into my friend, Goatie's Salt Lake apartment. The result: a bunch of stringed flowers (mala), hanging from a doorway- swinging, spinning and elasticating - with fragrance.
So began a mesmerizing puzzle. What could it all mean? What was happening?
Down below, from the 3rd floor apartment, from the local village, mothers, young daughters wrapped in simple sarees and pleated nighties with urn, bucket or plastic bottle in one hand catch the pumped, flowing water.
On another balcony, a shika, made of jute - suspends - a terracotta flower pot.
Meanwhile more natively, in my mind, associations with membrane structures that contain and divulge seeds, and, glands, spleen, intestines, began to foment from another side yielding a further gamut of ideas to flow on.
Consequently, this activation of so may qualites shared in different degrees by different forms, phenomenal states, fructified further metaphor onto other domains, not least including, architectural columns, brackets and narrow vertical friezes as pictured bottom left and right.
It is my speculation that these images indicate a commonality in representing a notion of a life essence.
